Grammy Week RecapPosted by tarahendricks.com on February 8, 2014 Blog | News | | One comment
Ah well it’s taken me a minute to readjust to these freezing temperatures back home, but my brain has finally thawed and I’m able to tell you what a fabulous time I had in Los Angeles for this year’s Grammy Week! I rarely get out there, but I must say how refreshing it was to get in some new sights and sounds and people and places.
The first Grammy event we attended was the Music Preservation Project’s “A Song is Born” songwriters showcase featuring many writers you wouldn’t otherwise know – for instance, they wrote classics like “I Can’t Make You Love Me” (Bonnie Raitt) and “Someone Like You” (Adele) and “Evergreen” (Barbara Streisand) – as well as several singer-songwriters you did recognize like Skylar Grey, Ryan Shaw, Bonnie Raitt, and my personal favorite, Gavin DeGraw (his acoustic performance of “I Don’t Want to Be…” reminded me of how truly talented he is! Love!).
The second Grammy event we were so fortunate to attend was the Grammy’s Salute to the Beatles Tribute Concert which featured a LONG list of stars like Maroon 5, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Keith Urban, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, Dave Grohl, Annie Lennox, Katy Perry, STEVIE WONDER!, and Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney doing their own solo sets. It was incredible! You must watch it when it airs on TV Sunday, February 9th. Tom Hanks was in the audience by the way – it was pretty cool to know all of us were in the same room at the same concert – wow :0
Also, ended up at a release party for J. Holiday. Oh and DJ Aktive (Philly native, supastar DJ!) spun my new single “Can’t Let Go” at a big club called Rooftop 3100 – that was SO special to me. He is the diggity bomb. SHOUT OUT! I also got to attend this neat jam session called Soul Mondays at Hotel Cafe with Jason Joseph & The Spectacular band. Ran into Elliott Yamin who I am a big fan of and got a pic too 😀
We got in lots of meetings, networking, Santa Monica beach, and I even squeezed in a lunch with my Aunt, so our venture was a success. Tickets sold out way in advance for the actual Grammy awards ceremony, but I’m saving that kind of money for the rest of my album anyhow, so you’ll see me there when I’m an invitee 😉
